Why Donate to Center for Puppetry Arts

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Center for Puppetry Arts relies on your tax-deductible donations to share our collection and programs throughout the world. Each year, with your help, the Center opens its doors to more than 200,000 on-site visitors; engages learners from 90 countries around the world through Digital Learning programs; and reaches thousands more through community outreach programs.

In short, your donation toward the Center’s operating costs will provide critical funds where they’re needed most. Thank you!

General Fund
These donations go to our general programming, including educational programs and productions.
Field Trip Fund
With your help, we offer over 70,000 deeply discounted (sometimes free) tickets each year to school and community groups, so all kids can enjoy our arts-infused education programs.

Museum Acquisition Fund
These donations made in honor of the Center’s main collector and contributor, Nancy Staub, go toward growing our collection of puppets from around the world.
Thanks to Your Field Trip Donations

Without the…school discount you provided, I’m pretty sure very few of our parents could afford for their child to go. We’re very appreciative. Today was the first time most (if not all) of our students have been to the Center and they all want to go back!

The Best Field Trip Ever

Dear Puppetry Center, Thank you for that puppet show. My favorite part was making the puppets. I really love watching the Billy Goats Gruff and other tales. You people made this the best field trip I ever had.

Puppet Donation

How to Donate Puppets to the Museum

The Center for Puppetry Arts appreciates your interest in donating puppets. The museum seeks to collect examples of historic global puppetry, unique modern puppetry, and pieces that have been created and performed by artists in the field of puppetry. The Center does not currently accept mass-produced puppets, toys, or collectibles at this time, including Pelham puppets.

All potential donations to the museum’s permanent collection must be approved by our Acquisitions Committee, formed from the Center’s Museum Advisory Board. While the museum seeks to add items to the collection that serve current and future exhibition purposes, the museum does not guarantee that items donated will be displayed on exhibit. If items are not accepted for our permanent collection, donors may wish to offer these pieces to our Educational Department for use in outreach programming.

Donors will be required to sign a Deed of Gift transferring full ownership of the item(s) to the Center. Fractional interest in an object, whereby the donor retains a percentage of ownership, is not permissible.

The Center for Puppetry Arts cannot provide information regarding the value of items, including items for donation or items accepted into the collection. We recommend the American Society of Appraisers or the Certified Appraisers Guild.

For more information about donating a puppet, please email micahwalsh@puppet.org.
