Museum Services Coordinators – Hourly

SUMMARY

The Center for Puppetry Arts seeks an enthusiastic Museum Services Coordinator to assist in providing each visitor with the best possible experience at the Center, and that the front of house operations and services align with the organization’s values of creativity and curiosity. The ideal candidate will enjoy interacting with people, be self-motivated, patient, and have an interest in arts organizations and museums. Day to day responsibilities include coordinating group visits and event coverage with other Museum Services Coordinators and Center staff, managing visitor expectations and wayfinding, troubleshooting customer service questions, and operating the Museum Store.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handles cash drawer in Museum Store.
• Responsible for opening and closing security of Museum.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Opens and closes all exhibit areas daily
• May provide scheduled tours of Museum exhibits
• May host or support Museum programming, events, and rentals
• Facilitates guest experience with gallery interactives
• Provides excellent customer service to guests by actively engaging them, answering questions, helping them find where they need to go, etc.
• Becomes knowledgeable of upcoming programs, participates in team meetings, and communicates guest concerns to Museum Operations Manager.
• Maintains cleanliness or exhibition casework and interactive
• Clerks in Museum Store and manages cash till
• Assists with administrative tasks as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists in store inventory management and selection
• Researches collections and artist histories for foundational work of curation
• Coordinates museum and collections-related digital content


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Preference is given to those with experience in cultural organizations.
• Must be able to work successfully with the general public.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to solve problems and prioritize needs in a variety of situations.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift 20 to 30 pounds.


PAY RATE

• $12.60 per hour
