Summer Camp Business Manager

JOB SUMMARY

To assure the efficient and effective functioning of the Summer Day Camp Program, to hire and train summer day camp staff, to perform all business operations of camp activities, including camper registration and payment and daily coordination of staff, and to collaborate with the Education department to create a safe and fun environment for the campers.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Finance
  • Supervises the hiring of Day Camp counselors/instructors
  • Oversees all business operations of Summer Camp
  • Coordinate all staff and parent communications
  • Monitors check in and check out procedures
  • Provide proper planning, execution and evaluations of daily logistical operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in pre-camp training and planning process
• Liaison with Education, Marketing, Facilities and other front of house operations
• Monitor sales and coordinate with Marketing to develop a successful marketing strategy
• Create and maintain a private Face Book group for parental communications
• Responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers and staff throughout the camp program.
• Abide by all policies, procedures and standards set forth by the Center for Puppetry Arts
• Ensure completion of all Child Safety training
• Maintain child safety guidelines for working with children
• Maintain awareness of camper’s allergy and dietary restrictions
• Maintain a stocked First Aid and medicine kit
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements
• Coordinate the evaluation of staff in a constructive way, giving and listening to any feedback.
• Establish and implement methods of staff motivation
• Assist peers with various responsibilities.
• Evaluation of the camp program with weekly evaluations and weekly feedback from parents and campers
• When needed, gives Counselors breaks in their day to insure staff health for the duration of the program
• Maintain visibility during check-in and check-out to help parents and campers.
• Regularly offer suggestions to improve camp and the programs offered
• Maintain all paperwork pertinent to the job.
The Director of Education and/or Director of Finance may assign additional duties as deemed appropriate and/or necessary.


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with CampMinder software a plus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and able to pass a background check
  • Completed at least two years higher education.
  • Have previous experience in a business role or office management position
  • Ability to establish an effective working relationship with parents, employees, children and the general public.
  • Hold a first aid certificate/CPR certificate
  • Ability to administer basic First Aid
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records regarding participants’ vital statistics and attendance
  • Experience with camp environments a plus

  • During camp days, frequent walking required
  • The employee will be primarily inside throughout the day.

SALARY RANGE

$37,000.00 to $40,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience
