VIP Reception for Puppetry NOW! Jeghetto’s 5P1NOK10 (Spinokio)

Members were treated to a VIP reception and preview before the public of Puppetry NOW! featuring artist Jeghetto’s 5P1NOK10 (Spinokio) exhibition exploring Jeghetto’s imagined and inventive world of 5P1N0K10 (Spinokio), diving into the backstories of the characters that fill this Afro-futurist universe. Members came face-to-face with Jeghetto’s large-scale, interactive found object creations, experimenting with manipulation themselves while feeling transported by puppetry. Members were also treated to a talkback with the artist Jeghetto who spoke about his experience and artistry behind 5P1N0K10.

I Love Pete the Cat!

Everyone was feeling groovy after meeting the author and artist Kim and James Dean and taking home their very own signed copy of the book Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses. After the performance, Kim and James Dean answered questions from the audience.  Members then enjoyed a sing-a-long in the atrium, hands-on-puppet making, visiting the museum, refreshments, and took home their very own Pete the Cat plush toy in addition to their signed book.

Member-Only Opening Reception of Christmas Town

The Center was thrilled to welcome the Rudolph and Santa puppets from the 1964 Rankin/Bass television special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™ to Atlanta. At the VIP Opening Reception, Members were the first visitors to see this nostalgic exhibition and learn more about the history of the classic holiday tale. Member-Only Opening Reception of
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

The Center brought the excitement of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance to audiences through a special exhibition. Puppets and props from the production were on exhibit for the first time ever at the Center for Puppetry Arts. At the Member-Only Opening Reception, Members were the first to preview the changes in puppetry and the mechanics of performance that have emerged since the making of the original film. Testimonial

I’m 71 years old and my whole life I’ve loved puppets. I was very excited when I retired here to learn that the Center for Puppetry Arts is just an hour drive away. I’ve enjoyed the shows there and enjoyed the museum exhibits. My son took me and his family there for my birthday several years ago before I became a member. My grandchildren, who are in their 20s, were amazed to see your production of Rudolph. It’s like a Broadway show!
