Experience Family Day at the Center

What do Lamb Chop, Cookie Monster, and the giant balloons of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade have in common? They were all brought to life by puppetry pioneers who changed the art form forever!

Families are invited to explore the lives, creativity, and lasting impact of the innovators who shaped modern puppetry. Journey through the Center and discover the stories behind visionary American artists, including Jim Henson, Shari Lewis, Tony Sarg, Bil Baird, Willis O’Brien, and Marjorie Batchelder McPharlin.

Enjoy hands-on art activities inspired by their groundbreaking work, encounter puppets from their traditions, and hear their stories.

Spread across the Center, Pioneers of Puppetry is an interactive experience filled with creativity, imagination, and the artists who transformed puppetry for generations of audiences.
