About the Center for Puppetry Arts
Since 1978, the Center for Puppetry Arts has introduced millions to the wonder and artistry of puppetry through performances for all ages, curated collections, workshops and classes, and creative programming. The Center’s doors opened in 1978, with Kermit the Frog and his creator Jim Henson cutting the ribbon. Founded and led for 41 years by Executive Director (and professional puppeteer) Vincent Anthony, the Center filled a need for a place in the U.S. where puppetry could be explored by both artists and audiences. Today, the Center has grown to be the largest non-profit organization in the nation dedicated solely to the art of puppetry.
