Internationally Acclaimed Solo Performance
Presented by Yael Rasooly
Experience a bold, internationally acclaimed solo performance by Yael Rasooly that blends puppetry, cabaret, and autobiographical storytelling, confronting the aftermath of violence and the struggle to reclaim a life through art.
A singer is mysteriously muted and immobilized and can no longer perform. A silenced secret is burning inside her. Yet she is not alone—a feisty and determined Edith Piaf is there to drag her out of bed and pull her back into life. Together, the unlikely duo conjures up a partnership of solidarity and tenderness, setting out together on a voyage full of grandeur and vulnerability, grief and victory, competition and compassion.
Edith and Me follows a performer navigating the aftermath of trauma, joined by a puppet embodiment of Edith Piaf. This inventive device externalizes memory, control, and recovery, unfolding into a deeply human story of resilience.
Critically praised for both its emotional depth and artistic innovation, the production has been described as:
“Nothing short of a masterpiece” – Chicago International Puppet Festival
“A story of surviving through art” – Third Coast Review
