Our Mission & History
So Much More Than Marionettes
The Center for Puppetry Arts is a unique cultural treasure — a magical place where children and adults are educated, enlightened and entertained. Since 1978, the Center has introduced millions of visitors to the wonder and art of puppetry and has touched the lives of many through enchanting performances, curriculum-based workshops, and the hands-on Museum, as well as Digital Learning and Outreach Programs.
Our Mission & Vision

The Center for Puppetry Arts’ mission is to inspire imagination, education and community through the global art of puppetry.
Our Vision
To be the premier puppetry center in the world through our performances, museum and educational programming.
History
In 1978, Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson joined Vince Anthony in cutting the ribbon on the Center for Puppetry Arts. Now, more than 40 years later, we produce 600+ performances a year, we offer 50+ types of educational programs, our Worlds of Puppetry Museum is home to more than 5000 puppets and artifacts, and we have a digital platform that presents programming in all 50 states and 9 countries – and we’re just getting started!
