Seasonal Guest Services Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Seasonal Guest Services Coordinator fosters a welcoming and accessible environment for visitors, aligned with the Center’s values of creativity and curiosity. This role supports public programming, maintains gallery spaces, and staffs the Museum store. Coordinators are expected to remain knowledgeable about current and upcoming programming and assist with visitor engagement across Museum operations.

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

The Center for Puppetry Arts’ mission is to inspire imagination, education, and community through the global art of puppetry. Founded in 1978, the Center is the largest nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to the art of puppetry, introducing millions of visitors to its wonder through three key programming areas: Performance, Museum, and Education.

DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Opens and closes all exhibit areas daily and assists in cleaning Museum cases & interactives daily.
  • Provides excellent customer service to guests by actively engaging them, answering questions, assisting with wayfinding, etc.
  • Works in the Gift Shop half of shift, will be trained to open and close store.
  • Assists with group management before and after shows in the atrium space as needed.
  • Communicates guest concerns to the Director of Operations.
  • Assists with Museum special events and rentals as scheduled.
  • Assists as backup for Education Open Workshops and House Management as needed.
  • Supports scheduled Museum volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Facilitates guest experience with gallery interactives & implements in-gallery educational programming.
  • May be asked to assist with other functions as operational needs arise.

SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT DEFINITION

“Seasonal” refers to a temporary, part-time role scheduled primarily during weekends and peak programming periods. This position is not year-round, and while it may be extended based on performance and departmental needs, it does not include benefits and is classified as Temporary, Part-time under the Center’s employment policy.

STATUS

  • Seasonal, Part-Time, Hourly
  • Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
  • Approximately 20–22 hours per week
  • Scheduled shifts:
    • Friday: 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM
    • Saturday: 9:45 AM – 5:15 PM
    • Sunday: 11:45 AM – 5:15 PM
  • Additional sub shifts may be available as needed
