An Evening with Joe Alterman & BlackCatTips

Puppetry, jazz, and art, oh, my!

Join the Center for Puppetry Arts for a very special evening celebrating the arts and featuring Joe Alterman and Kyle Brooks (aka BlackCatTips)!

In partnership with 90.1 WABE, Atlanta’s NPR station, we are thrilled to present a live performance from Joe Alterman, host of the weekly radio show, The Upside of Jazz with Joe Alterman. A native of Atlanta, Alterman has released eight critically acclaimed albums and performed at iconic venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Birdland, and the Blue Note, sharing the stage with legends such as Les McCann, Ramsey Lewis, Houston Person, and Dick Gregory.

The evening will also mark the debut of the Center’s new merchandise collection, created in collaboration with Atlanta-based visual artist BlackCatTips. BlackCatTips is Kyle Brooks, a street folk artist from way down in the American South. In addition to his studio and mural work, Brooks creates street poems and whimsical roadside art installations. With his brush, bright colors and a few found materials, he paints the world happy. Kyle will be present to sign his work.

The Center’s galleries will be open all evening to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy our collection outside of typical hours. Come on out to join three beloved Atlanta artistic forces as we celebrate creativity, conversation, and community.

Persons under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
