Celebrate at the Center
Celebrate World Puppetry Day at the Center for Puppetry Arts on March 22!
Join us for a joyful, hands-on celebration featuring Ijele, a traditional Nigerian puppet and masquerade form known for its movement, music, and community storytelling.
As a special add-on experience, patrons are invited upstairs to learn about the cultural significance of Ijele and create their own rod puppets. These puppets will then be placed onto the Ijele for a lively, collective dance celebration in the atrium, brought to life with the powerful rhythms of live djembe drumming.
Colorful, energetic, and participatory—this is puppetry in motion.
*Please note, Members receive free admission to the Jim Henson Collection and Global Collection and pay only $5 for the workshop.
