Puppet Summer Camp FAQ

Everything you need to know about puppet camp is in our caregiver packet. Upon registration you will receive a corresponding Puppet Camp Caregiver Packet which will contain detailed information about drop off/pickup, lunch and outdoor time procedures, performance details and more.
For all other questions, please contact In-House Programs Manager, Mandy Mitchell, at mandymitchell@puppet.org

What’s the difference between Puppet Theatre Camp and the other Puppet Camps?

Puppet camp is unique because of The Center for Puppetry Arts itself. Your camper is in for an amazing week with us, because your camper will get the best of all we have to offer. Not only will they get to have a fun week learning the art of puppetry in many forms, but they also will get to see a show, get a private museum tour, and get VIP behind the scenes access to some of the brightest minds and stars working in the puppetry world.

Is there any flexibility regarding the age ranges for camp?

All campers must be registered for their rising grade appropriate camp (if your camper just finished 3rd grade, they will be in the 4th grade camp for the summer etc.). Rising Kindergarteners must be 5 years old at the start of camp, even if they will be 5 before starting school in the fall. No exceptions.

Does my child need to already have any puppetry experience?

Absolutely not! Puppet Camp is a fun and welcoming space for children at all levels of puppetry know-how.

Is camp at the Center for Puppetry Arts a nut-free environment?

Yes. To be considerate of all our campers and staff, we are a nut-free camp.

What should my camper bring for lunch and snacks?

Campers should dress in comfortable clothing that they can move in and wear sneakers. Each camper should bring a nut-free lunch (no microwave or refrigerator available), two nut-free snacks, and a water bottle. Please label all personal belongings.

Will there be a final presentation of any kind?

More details about the final day of camp including presentations, will be outlined in your caregiver packet. Each camp is unique, if you have specific questions, you can email our In-House Programs Manager, Mandy Mitchell, at mandymitchell@puppet.org.

What is the cell phone policy?

Details about the cell phone and tech policy will be outlined in your caregiver packet. Students K-5 are encouraged to leave cell phones and technology at home. If there is an emergency, you will be able to reach the In-House Programs manager directly.

What is your cancellation policy?

Full-price camp cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the start date of the camp session will receive a full refund less an administrative fee of $50. Any full-price camp cancellation made less than 30 days prior to the start date of the camp session will incur a 50% penalty of the original fee. Camps cannot be canceled less than 7 days before the camp start date. Camps purchased during the One Day Sale are nonrefundable and non-transferable.

What if my camper is sick?

Refunds will not be provided for students missing camp due to illness.

Will campers get to see a puppet show during their week of camp?

Yes! Our weeks of Puppet Camp are scheduled with our production schedule in mind in order to ensure campers have the ability to see a live puppet show onstage here at the Center. Additionally, campers will see smaller performances throughout the week thanks to the Center’s amazing team of Resident Artists.
