The Classic Children’s Book Adaptation, Stellaluna, Returns to the Center for Puppetry Arts 

March 26-May 19 

ATLANTA (March 2024) – The Center for Puppetry Arts is excited to announce the return of Stellaluna to the stage. Adapted by Center for Puppetry Arts Artistic Director Jon Ludwig and based on the best-selling book by Janell Cannon, Stellaluna explores themes of diversity, inclusion, and self-acceptance. “It’s a classic story of finding one’s place in the world and accepting others for what and who they are,” says Ludwig. Presented by Kaiser Permanente, Stellaluna comes to life March 16-May19 through the use of tabletop, rod, marionette, and shadow puppetry. 

Stellaluna follows the journey of a baby fruit bat who, after an unexpected fall into a nest of bird fledglings, must navigate the challenges of fitting into a world where she doesn’t quite belong. While Stellaluna tries her best to live like the birds in her adoptive family, the baby bat secretly yearns for her nocturnal way. Her struggle draws audiences into a tale that celebrates the bonds of friendship and the joy of self-discovery. Amidst moments of humor, adventure, and heartfelt emotion, Stellaluna’s journey reminds us that true acceptance comes from understanding and respect for one another’s differences.

All-inclusive tickets for Stellaluna are $16-$25 for both Adults and Children (ages 2-12) with reduced pricing for March 26-27 performances. Performance tickets include admission to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum, free onsite parking, and a Create-A-Puppet Workshop™ activity where guests can make their own Stellaluna Rod & String Puppet based on a character in the show. VIP tickets are also available and include premiere seating.
