Center for Puppetry Arts Celebrates Halloween with the World Premiere of a New Show, the Return of a Fan Favorite and Henson Monsters

ATLANTA (September 2025) – The Center for Puppetry Arts is conjuring a thrilling Halloween season filled with a world premiere, fan-favorite performances, festive events, and one-of-a-kind museum experiences. This year’s line-up features the return of “The Ghastly Dreadfuls”(+18), the world premiere of “Spookhouse Annie”, an expanded Monster Mash and a special museum showcase including the debut of the General Mills x Jim Henson Cereal Monster Puppets.
World Premiere of “Spookhouse Annie”
Opening Oct. 16 and running through Nov. 2, “Spookhouse Annie” follows Annie, a girl who lives in a haunted house, and her nervous friend Dave, who soon learns the house is filled with goofy, not-so-spooky monsters. From the cheerful witch Hagatha to Count Morlock, a vampire who lost his way to Transylvania, this original Center for Puppetry Arts production offers a playful twist on Halloween for audiences of all ages.
Monster Mash Expands to Two Days
The Center’s popular indoor trick-or-treating dance party, Monster Mash, is expanding to two days this year, with families invited to enjoy trick-or-treating through the Worlds of Puppetry Museum and a special guest performance by DJ Willy Wow with family-friendly music and interactive activities on Oct. 18 and 25, and to make the most of the celebration by pairing the event with tickets to “Spookhouse Annie.”
“The Ghastly Dreadfuls” Return (18+)
An Atlanta Halloween tradition, “The Ghastly Dreadfuls” are back to haunt the stage Oct. 8-Nov. 1 with their darkly comic blend of creepy tales, live music and puppetry. Beloved by fans for their ghoulish charm, the Dreadfuls serve up a cabaret-style mix of spine-chilling stories and hauntingly hilarious songs perfect for an evening outing this season.
Halloween Puppets on Display at the Center
This October, the Worlds of Puppetry Museum is getting into the Halloween spirit with a special selection of spooky and nostalgic puppets. From now-Oct. 26, visitors can see the General Mills x Jim Henson Cereal Monster Puppets at a premiere, limited-time display, featuring iconic cereal mascots reimagined by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Also featured in the seasonal lineup are fan favorites Slimer from the movie “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and Salem from the TV show “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” on view as part of the museum’s ongoing collection.
