Theatre Technician
Skills in electrics, sound, and video for temporary, part-time, and as-needed opportunities.
JOB SUMMARY
Assist in the operations of the Electrics Shop with the required skills and qualifications.
• Lighting and sound system operation
• Electrical, audio, and video wiring
• Troubleshooting and problem‑solving
• Familiarity with ETC lighting equipment and Q‑Lab
• 3+ years of formal theatre education or professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or related field preferred
• Motivated, responsible, and team-oriented
DUTIES/
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting show changeovers by installing lighting, audio, and video elements for Center and guest artist productions
- Hang, circuit, and focus lighting plots
- Prepare sound systems for rehearsals and performances
- Hang and focus video projection equipment
- Preparing upcoming shows (building practicals, pulling gear, cutting gel, etc.)
- Maintaining and organizing the Electrics Shop to ensure readiness for upcoming events
- Repairing and maintaining equipment
- Providing electrics support for other Center activities (events, tours, etc.)Provides excellent customer service to guests by actively engaging with patrons, answering questions, assisting with wayfinding, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Comfortable working on ladders (all spaces have dead-hung grids)
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. regularly
- Ability to move and manipulate ladders of 85 lbs.
SCHEDULE
Part-Time / As-needed
- On site (non-remote)
- Availability for nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
- Valid driver’s license preferred
COMPENSATION
- Hourly, non-exempt
- Rate $16.00+ (based on experience)
