Accounting Manager

SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance, and partnering with leadership to strengthen the organization’s financial health. This position is 32 hours per week with some remote flexibility, but candidates must be based in Atlanta for some in-person work and meetings.

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

We are a dynamic non-profit arts organization based in Atlanta, dedicated to enriching the community through innovative programming, performances, and cultural engagement. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and maintain the general ledger; ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare weekly sales reports and other ad hoc management reporting as requested.
  • Support annual budget development and support monthly budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Assist with grant reporting, donor restrictions, and compliance requirements specific to non-profits.
  • Assist with annual audit and tax filings with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Implement financial controls, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance to other departments and staff involved in financial processes.
  • Perform related duties as required and/or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting management or similar roles, preferably with non-profits.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a small team.
  • Commitment to the mission of supporting the arts and community engagement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • At least four years of related experience is required.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

  • 32 hours per week, 4 days per week
  • Hybrid schedule possible, requires a minimum of one day in-person/week
  • Hourly rate of $28.00/hour
  • Center pays 75% of the employee’s medical premium
