This role is ideal for energetic educators, artists, or facilitators who love working with children, families, and community groups in a fast-paced, creative environment. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values curiosity, inclusion, and a touch of whimsy—where every visitor, from kindergartners to grandparents, is welcomed with care and joy.

Whether you are guiding a puppet-building workshop, supporting a seasonal festival, or helping a child discover their creative spark, you’ll play a vital role in making learning at the Center memorable and meaningful.

Located in Atlanta, we’re home to one of the largest collections of puppets in the United States, a vibrant performance season, and education programs that reach across Georgia and beyond. In-House Education Manager, Director of Education

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Delivery & Facilitation

  • Lead engaging, hands-on puppet-building workshops for school groups, families, and general visitors both in-person and virtually.
  • Deliver customized educational experiences aligned with curriculum standards and Center exhibitions.
  • Support digital learning programs as needed.
  • Support seasonal programming, including camps, festivals, and special events.

Program Development & Materials

  • Assist in developing and updating lesson plans, workshop content, and instructional materials.
  • Prepare workshop spaces and maintain educational supplies to ensure a high-quality visitor experience.

Training, Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Participate in training sessions to stay current with Center history, puppetry techniques, and educational best practices.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and the Education team to assess and improve programming.
  • Pitch in as needed to support the team and Center-wide initiatives and other duties.

Visitor Engagement & Service

  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the Center’s educational mission with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Ensure that all programs uphold the Center’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Education, Theater, or a related field is a plus, but not required. Equivalent experience in educational or arts environments is welcome.
  • Experience teaching or facilitating programs with children, families, or school groups.
  • Strong public speaking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Energetic, adaptable, and comfortable engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple groups or classes in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to work with hands-on art materials and learn puppetry techniques (training provided).
  • Weekday availability required, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in puppetry, theater, visual arts, or museum education.
  • Familiarity with curriculum standards and informal education practices.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS

AND PAY

$16.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt, part-time position.
