The fifth-largest country in the world, the Indonesian archipelago has more than a wealth of agriculture, natural resources, and enterprise. It has the richness of culture seen in diverse arts created by its hundreds of ethnic groups. On Java, inhabited by people of Javanese and Sudanese ethnicity, and just to the east in Bali, a puppet tradition thrives that is among the most vital in the world: the wayang.
